Support the Longmore Institute on Disability on #GivingTuesday

We're gearing up for Giving Tuesday, and are optimistic that we'll have another successful year! Our goal is to raise funds to support the many educational and outreach programs we put on at the Longmore Institute throughout the year.

Whether or not you will personally give on Giving Tuesday, we'd love if you would send us a photo this year articulating why your support the Longmore Institute! There are two ways you can show your support.

San Francisco State University President Lynn Mahoney. She is a white woman with short dark hair. She holds a sign that reads, “I support the Longmore Institute because of 25 years of scholarship and advocacy to enrich the lives of the disabled and nondisabled and SF State University.”

PHYISICAL TEMPLATE

We have two different physical templates this year. To use our templates, click here & print one of them.

See the above example from SF State's President, Lynn Mahoney!

Four Easy Steps to Make your own #Unselfie

  1. Print out one of these pages: https://longmoreinstitute.sfsu.edu/sites/default/files/documents/PhysicalTemplates.pdf.

  2. Write (in large, clear lettering) why you support the Longmore Institute

This could be any number of reasons: why disability awareness is important, how Longmore’s approach has influenced you, what Superfest brings to the table, etc.

Examples from past supporters: “I believe in the power of disability culture” and “Because disability culture rocks.” Please feel free to be as creative as you like!

  3. Take your picture holding up the piece of paper in front of you.

  4. Upload the photo to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media channels and remember to include the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #UnSelfie and #Longmore

If you don’t use social media, but still want to share your #UnSelfie, email it to us at the Longmore Institute: pklinst@sfsu.edu and we can share it for you!

If taking an unselfie isn’t your thing but you still want to help, send us a picture of yourself and your statement about why you support the Longmore Institute and we’ll turn it into an unselfie for you!

Please share and send all #UnSelfies or photos/testimonials by the day before Giving Tuesday!

VIRTUAL TEMPLATE

If you want to show your support on your social media profiles, we also have transparent PNGs you can add over your profile picture for the day. There are four versions to choose from, so pick which one you like best!

THANK YOU!

Also, a big thank you to the everyone who has shown their support for Longmore during past Giving Tuesdays. Here's a few #UnSelfies from years previous:

A grid of nine photos of different people holding their support for Longmore signs, or with text of their sentiments. The people in the photos range in age, gender, race, and ability, and there are lots of smiling faces.
